Identification marking machines for the steel industry

The public limited company Magnemag's location in the greater Copenhagen area is favourable in the sense that there are ample opportunities for attracting qualified employees. It is, for instance, not a problem to have people coming from the capital as the infrastructure easily allows for this by car or by train.

Magnemag is an engineering, production and trading company that is engaged in advice, planning and delivery in the area of marking and identification systems for steelworks. The company is one of the world's leading suppliers in this field.

Magnemag has been in Stenløse since 1991, and they are satisfied with their location:
"The municipality has a good business office that we sometimes cooperate with, and I might mention that they come up with useful initiatives when it comes to helping small and medium-sized businesses," says Managing Director Lars Kalnæs.

In January 2004 the company merged with Austrian Numtec Interstahl GmbH.

"We merged with our biggest competitor for strategic reasons: we serve a global market with customers on all continents, which is very cost-intensive, but we obtained important synergies by merging with the other large player in the market. This means, among other thing, that we can offer a greater range of products than would otherwise have been possible," adds Lars Kalnæs.

"In 2005, around 50 % of the machines that we manufactured here in Denmark were sold to the booming Chinese market."

The company has representatives in more than twenty countries and in excess of 350 reference installations in 34 countries.

All key parts of the marking machines are manufactured in-house in Stenløse, where more than 60 people are employed. Almost all of them are Danes. The current production of marking machines goes back to 1969.
